My name is Devana Pillay. I am a final year business student from Singapore Management University (SMU).
SMU means a lot to me! It's a place of higher learning, friendship and self-discovery. I was fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to lead Project Chong Chóng II, an Overseas Community Service Project (OCSP) to Vietnam. Leading an OCSP taught me a lot about leadership, service learning and friendship.
I am also very proud to be in Tamizha (Tamil Language & Culture wing), an initiative I started in 2012 with a close friend of mine (Bhuvan). Again I was fortunate enough to have met like-minded people who wanted to create a student body that could represent SMU in the local Tamil sphere and a platform for like-minded people to meet and connect.
Prior to SMU, I graduated with a Silver Medal for the Diploma in Microelectronics from Temasek Polytechnic and was the Valedictorian for my graduation cohort.
I'm a leukaemia survivor. I am very grateful for care I have received from my loved ones and the for help I received from Touch Community, Leukemia & Lymphoma Foundation (LLF) and SGH's Medical Social Services. The path to remission was not easy, but the support I received made it more bearable.
Posing with my Silver medal :))
Mr. Valedictorian. :P
Cheers to life!Dev
